I spend time at Sand Hills Resort in 2022 and came back late May 2023. Resort was clean, and well kept. I spent 7 days in a spot right by the Office. Staff was excellent, checked us in quickly and very attentive to our needs during our stay. Ground staff worked the entire time mowing, putting in new waterlines and electrical to upgrade many of the sites. There is a store on site that sold soda and general camping supplies so you dont have to drive into town. They have RZR/Can Am parts and even had new Sand Tires for sale. Sand was AWESOME! If you have not stayed here before...DO IT. We are coming back for our annual trip in June 2024. Tree should be full of leaves and providing lots of shade! Thanks SHR for making our trip memorable!
I have been coming here for 9 years, I just returned from my trip here last week with a large group of about 30 people. I have to say I was very impressed with the new management. They were very attentive and were always available and helpful, they acted like they actually cared about the resort and enforcing the rules. They have a tall task at hand to get the grass back to how it used to be between sites, but based off what I saw last week, that should be no problem. My one complaint is the dune access I am used to using on the south side of the resort now has been closed, and the land owner has excavation equipment there moving the dune. The resort is not at fault from what I understand it is another land owner, but I did miss having that dune access.
We have been to Sand Hills many times over the last few years. This year when we arrived for our first scheduled stay there for 2023, we found quite a few very positive changes! They are under new management and have a full time camp host now! The service was exceptional and they were very helpful and friendly. We noticed that many of the electrical services had been updated and they told us about installing an entirely new and upgraded electrical service supply on one side of the camp to provide larger and better electrical for more spaces and less potential for overload. They also showed us many new site fixes and explained their plan to completely redo the on-site bathrooms! Our space was clean and ready for us when we got there and we had no issues getting in and set up, even with the 46’ fifth wheel. The store has many new items and looks to provide as much as any visitor may need. There was always plenty of ice and they even had quite a bit of firewood if you needed to buy for a fire. It was noticeable that they intended for a much better and safer experience for all visitors. In the past we have had to deal with loud and unruly people during our 10 day stays, as well as people speeding through camp or lighting fireworks near camp. They made sure that we knew and understood all the rules and let us know that all the rules would be enforced. This was refreshing to hear as we like to have a good time, but also like to know that we can go to bed and rest when it is time, as a vacation should let you do. Thank you for the great experience, and we look forward to seeing the increasing positive changes! See you in October!!
I’ve been dune riding since the 80’s in Southern California. I’ve never enjoyed riding anywhere as much as St Anthony! I just spent a week at Sand Hills for the third consecutive summer and absolutely love it there! It is clean and generally quiet, though still a blast. I appreciate the staff and their commitment to making the resort one we can all feel welcome and safe in.
On that note, staff: it has not gone unnoticed that the summer of 2023 was quite a step up from past years! The store looks great, and the park was spiffy too. Thanks for being around so much and responsive to our needs.
Can’t wait for my next trip!!
Great staff, very kind and very helpful. This location allowed us to drive directly into the dunes from the park. We had a great spot for our Super C, trailer, and Jeep on the level concrete pad. Plenty of room for all our stuff. Safe and gated entrance. Only problem for us is the little guys hot rodding their go cart stirring up dust and noise without supervision. For those with dogs it was problematic. However, when I talked to them they politely responded.
