Area is great for viewing wildlife and trout in the river.
From West Yellowstone, Montana, travel 22 miles south on Highway 20 to Mack's Inn. Turn east on the Big Springs Loop Rd. Travel 4.5 miles to campground.
This was our first time camping at Big Springs. We went online to reserve a spot for two nights. The places available for reserving are on a pine covered hillside with restrooms, water spigots and even a drinking fountain. Our 30' long camper could fit in a few places but I will say that a shorter camper would be better. The camp host greeted us and gave us a good idea of the layout of the campground. The size of our trailer and the emptiness of the campground allowed us to switch from #5 on the hillside to a much more spacious #27 on the side that is first served to first come. The site had a view of a brook with tall trees, walking paths, easy access along with restrooms and water spigots available. We were happy that the host was so helpful and let us change spots. It was a very good experience. Love the hiking trails.
Such a beautiful place! We loved walking by the river and looking at the scenery.
Great little campground up in the mountains. Bathrooms were clean and the campsites well taken care of. There is a short hike in the campground that leads up to a natural spring.
Great campground! There are a lot of trees so most of the campsites have privacy. A lot of the sites have a shelter over the picnic table. Each site is spacious and pretty close to a bathroom and water. The bathrooms were well stocked and fairly clean. The fire pits are large and each sight has a separate place for a bbq.
Great place to camp! Lovely nature trail with incredible views over the floodplain and an incredible pool tinged bright cerulean.
