About Campground

Fall asleep while listening to the river run on our working farm on the Mills River. This campsite can hold up to 10 people and features a covered picnic area with multiple picnic tables. During the summer, admire our growing vegetable field; in the winter months, you’ll see a sea of green as our cover crop takes over. You can cool off in the river, or check out the surrounding Pisgah National Forest. Pets are welcome.

The farm provides a portable toilet but no other amenities. Campfires may be restricted, so check local regulations. This is a working farm, so please be respectful of the crops and workers and keep dogs on leashes. Fishing is not allowed in the river. Please note, if it’s rainy, the roads will be muddy and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are the best option.

We have a permanant spot here and love it. Been here over 2 years. We have several friends here as well. Nice boat ramp. Tons of places to walk our dogs. The most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. Owners are friendly and always willing to help you of you need anything.

Love to stay here when visiting Pungo! The camp sites are inexpensive, the bathhouse is nice, and they even have a boat ramp!

Brooke was an excellent hostess and made the reservation process very simple. The campground is very well-maintained, quiet, and welcoming.

I stayed in cabin 4 with my son. It was quiet, tidy, and had the basics: 2 chairs and a table in the living room/efficiency kitchen area; sleeping areas for up to 4 people; and a bathroom with a shower stall.

The screened front porch has seating for 4.

A few tips to those planning to rent these (super affordable) cabins:

•bring place settings for each person in your group

•bring linens (kitchen, bath, and bed)

•bring a sealed or sealable container for your snacks (we had a mouse staying with us, so everything went in the fridge or freezer)

•if you're planning to fish here, be sure to bring bait. Ray's Market (on 264, just up the road) does not carry synthetic bait or other minor tackle items. He carries worms, but nothing else (as of 4/20/22). I'm also not sure if you can get your fishing license there, but if you need one, the (other) closest place to get it is ACE Hardware in Belhaven

Keep in mind that there are some folks who live here year-round, so if you have children who are prone to screaming, I would ask you to please think twice before bringing them to such a peaceful place, out of respect for the residents.

I'd stay here again. 😊

Great off the beaten path park with lots of spaces but no washroom nor showers. The manager was super friendly and accommodating to our requests and our stay was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended if you only need electrical, water and sewer. The sunsets can be magical.
