Nice 🏕 sites, modern restrooms and showers. Direct access to the Rainbow River frm the CG. A visit to the Rainbow River Park headwaters section very interesting. I'm a big fan of Fla State Parks to begin with, and this is another great example of the State taking over a past private attraction and saving it for the future so Folks can understand what a great State it was before it was overrun with Folks.
I love this park. Cindy at the front office is amazing at her job. She is full of knowledge about the area. She always remembers the things we talked about and asked us if we enjoyed it. She is one outstanding person. The park is clean and all the camp host were nice and helpful. Hopefully we can get another site soon, we totally understand why it's so hard to get it. It is worth it.
Great campground. Full hookups. My one wish is that you could drive closer to the kayak launch point for dropping off. It is quite a ways to tote kayaks the way it is setup. But the 1.6 mile paddle up to the spring in crystal clear water is amazing. Unbelievable number of different water fowl along the way.
I made a lot of memories here. I get attached and sentimental every time fun times are over, and this was one of them. The atmosphere was very peaceful. I enjoyed sitting by the campfire on cold nights, being beside my relatives; stargazing; and eating comfort food after a long day of adventure. One thing I regret doing was leaving behind a trace of the date I visited, either engraved on a rock or some other time capsule. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my third ever camping experience and would definitely recommend.
