About Campground

Goat House Farm is a Farmher run 501(c)(3) farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 05 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible.

As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. It is our goal to create a space where our visitors can have fun and learn about the animals who share that space. We also strive to serve as a valuable resource for first time goat owners. To support that endeavor, we sell chicken eggs, specialty cottage goods, honey, and natural goat milk and honey products. We also sell raw goat milk (for pet consumption only, as per Florida law).

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our programming and partners. We welcome all races, abilities, ethnicities, backgrounds, orientations & identities.

Directions

Take a right off Hwy 20 on Whippoorwill Rd from the east. Be sure to take the first Whippoorwill if coming from the east or the second if coming from the west. The next street is also called Whippoorwill, but it is very sandy. Take your first right and the your first left. Continue all the way to the end, staying to your left when the road forks. Ignore the banjos along the way, it gets better when you get to the lake. I promise! The road ends at the driveway and you will see a sign that reads "Welcome to the Goathouse." Just come on all the way down the drive and we will meet you if you shoot us a message when you turn off the highway. Take care on the road as it is pretty bumpy and especially difficult to navigate at night if you have not been here before.

We absolutely loved it; it was a great experience, we learned so much.

The goats are beautiful and docile, our 5 and 8 year olds did great with all of them. Felt comfortable and would definitely return.

Even got some eggs to take home :)

I wish I could give 10 stars! What a hidden gem! I spent ten days in the “tiny house,” and this place is amazing. Not only is the property on Lake Talquin (with kayaks provided), it is just up the street from a state park and is only a one hour drive from the beach. There are multiple campsites and another enclosed shelter called “The Coop,” but the little cottage called “Tiny House” is cozy and absolutely perfect. Melissa is so hospitable and provided everything I needed to comfortably enjoy my stay. She even provided breakfast – including farm fresh eggs – on the weekends.

The property itself is beautiful, and the animals are great fun! The goats are friendly (especially if you have carrots!), and there are also a pig, some kitties, and chickens.

I had a great time here. I can’t wait until I can find time to get away to Goat House Farm again. I highly recommend a stay here!

Please keep in mind that this is a *farm* and not a hotel, and you will be fine..

If you are a city born and raised like me, you may have some difficulty adjusting around, but the farm animals definitely make it worth it. If you are a country person, then I am sure this is the perfect place for you!

Thanks, Melissa for your hospitality and homemade biscuits!

Edit: I got a tick bite from this place and I discovered it late during the day, so I ended up paying quite a lot of money to emergency services. Normally, I would take away more stars but I know Melissa has a noble purpose of improving goats and their survival capabilities so I will leave it at 4 stars. Though, I cannot simply ignore the fact that it caused me great distress.

We loved this place and will definitely be back! Melissa was so nice and knowledgeable. This is a nonprofit so if you ever have time go help her out and stay in one of her Airbnbs on property. I loved all the goat time I got. They all have such different personalities.
