A central point for recreation in the northwest part of the forest. From this primitive hunt camp, you can ride the West Tower Equestrian Trails or hike / backpack on the Florida Trail. Primitive tent camping.
Beautiful, nice camp sites with picnic tables and fire circles. There is potable water, a shower, and electric at the single unisex bathroom. There are horse stalls for if you are riding and staying overnight. Climbing the tower is dangerous and not allowed.
Good place to stop on the Florida Trail. You get access to the bathroom with sink and mirror, a charging station, cold water shower, and trash cans. The campsites each have a picnic table in an area that is a little too open for me. I used the lower levels of the tower as a place to put my food given the last poster's comments on seeing bears. The dogs bark until 10pm or so and start again around 5am. Not perfect but, hey, it's free!
Great place to camp for free for 14 days don't forget to climb the tower while you're there.
When I arrived at West Towers I noticed that they had a working restroom with running water a outside shower and a free charging station all free All the camp sites has a picnic table but when it rains it flooded and saw 1 bear and 2 cubs go through the camp grounds also there is a camp host named Jeff that will help you if you need him This not a homeless hangout
