We are a small 38 site family owned and operated campground located next to Clinch Mountain Wildlife Management Area.
The Wildlife Management Area encompasses approximately 26,000 acres and offers wildlife viewing, bird watching, fishing, hiking, hunting, boating, kayaking, etc. Big Tumbling Creek is stocked 4 times per week by the Virginia Dept. of Game & Inland Fisheries from the first Saturday in April thru September 30th each year. It offers 7 miles of trout stream and some of the best trout fishing in Virginia. Also located in the WMA is Laurel Bed Lake which offers excellent Smallmouth Bass fishing.
Located nearby is the popular hiking trail The Great Channels. Also, not too far away is the popular Virginia Creeper Bike Trail which offers 34 miles of easy biking for bikers of all levels.
If you are a nature enthusiast you will love it at Rainbow Campground.
We offer full hookup sites, primitive sites, cabin and camper rentals, wifi, picnic tables, fire rings, clean restrooms, ice and firewood are available, playground for the kids, live music on weekends (weather permitting) and some of the nicest folks around.
Well I found your little backyard RV park. This isn't camping there is no privacy at all. Not happy at all. I have wasted my time and money for this. You should be a shamed to false advertise a peaceful campground. When in fact my backyard would have been better.
I stayed here this winter during my nursing contract and it was fantastic! So quiet all the time and we had an amazing spot right next to the big creek. It was great hearing the creek all the time. The campground is kept up nicely and it’s in a great location. Right down the road from a huge lake in the mountains with great fishing. Horse shoe tournaments every weekend. This has been my favorite campsite so far on my travels. The owner is very nice and attentive as well.
We came up for a weekend away and enjoyed our stay. The campground is well kept and quiet. The locals are welcoming and make you feel like family. Our children enjoyed the story telling and Mountain Music. The camp ground offers easy access to trout fishing and the lake.
Amazing area! This is an excellent place for families to fish and camp! We enjoyed going here for a family fishing trip.Very clean campground area, Friendly people, good areas to fish, easy to navigate and access, scenic area with beautiful water flowing/falls. If you like to hike, fish, enjoy scenic views, enjoy nature and peace it's a great place to go. It's only minutes away from the lake access for fishing if you want to take a boat. Definitely would recommend this area to families who just like to enjoy spending time in nature.
We loved our recent stay in this quaint cabin located in the Rainbow Campgrounds. It was quiet and peaceful in a beautiful setting next to a trout fishing stream. We stayed there so that we could bike the Virginia Creeper Trail (which we did and loved) but the cabin has a whole list of other hiking and places to explore. We also went up to the big lake Laurel Bed Lake which is a fifteen minute lovely drive from the cabin. During the summer I am sure that both the lake and streams are great for swimming. The stream has absolutely beatufil little waterfalls. The cabin had all the necessary amenities and I lovely front porch and outdoor fire pit. Definitely recommend!!
