This campground was great. Having gone midweek the crowd in the area was light. The campground host was friendly and answered all of our questions. Our site (site #1) did not habe a bear box for our food. However this wasnt an issue as we did not see any bears. The host said he'd seen 1 bear there in the 4 years he's been there. It sits over 7000' so campfires were allowed during the fire restrictions. Firewood was abundant if you chose to gather wood. There was also wood for sale. Its location provides cooler afternoon temps, but is close enough to other things you may want to do like visit the Trail of 100 Giants. We plan on making this an annual summer trip.

Very well kept campground. The host is super helpful and keeps everything nice. The sites are pretty spacious and clean and they all have bear boxes. We stayed in sites 6 and 7. Site 6 is in an almost ideal location except that you can hear some of the traffic from the highway but it wasn't too bad. Site 7 was less ideal and on a slope but there's a wood platform built up for you to put your tent. Both sites are set back from the road so you'll have to hike your stuff down about 30-40 feet.

Weather was off for June with night dipping into the low 30s but other than the cold the camp site was excellent. The surrounding fire damage is extensive but somehow the campground was left mostly untouched. We will definitely head back.

The lady and I made a last minute trek to this campground at night and it was well worth it! The host Tim was extremely friendly and helpful, arrived instantly to assist and answer questions. The Sequoias were beautiful, and privacy was awesome, and the little creek at the bottom offered some soothing sounds. A few things to note below:

Signs show 90 is closed after Ponderosa, but the actual closure is after Ponderosa and Quaking Aspen, so the campground is still accessible if coming from the South.

It’s quite the drive, at least an hour from Kernville (gas, food, beer)

The campground sells ice and firewood.

The campground closes Oct 29, maybe earlier pending snowfall.

NO RVS

Was a lovely little campground, has available first come first serve sites. Will be coming back!
