Myself, my fiancé and our 3 children LOVED it at Saddle Creek Campground. We enjoyed the views, the weather, the playgrounds, the nature walks and even going fishing. We are most likely going to go back there and possibly soon.
I spent 3 haphazard weeks there. James and elaine are great host/hostess and have to detail with alot of not so gracious guests. I admire them both for trying to keep , sometimes , impossible vagrants at bay. Transitional people need help too. I thanked them appreciatively when I departed. They asked me back anytime. I will.
There haven't been many reviews lately so maybe things have changed in the last year. Drove out looking for an RV site on the water like the pictures. This location really looked like it was more like a homeless encampment now. At $20/night I guess that can be expected, but neighboring counties have nice parks at a similar rate. It was mostly tents with piles of long term stuff stacked up around them. We didn't stop long enough to even check the facilities because we decided we wouldn't want to stay. I wouldn't recommend for a family stay.
I really enjoy Saddle Creek. I’ve stayed there quite a few times. The kids also enjoy it. Just watch your small pets around the banks of the lakes. This is definitely the place you want to go for gator watching.
Lots of lakes to fish at. But it’s too close to the city. So many people camped right on top of one another. I was breathing in cigagrette smoke all night. The whole camp ground smelled like weed all night. There were lots of vagrants going in and out of the campsite dumpster diving. The bathrooms were disgusting, Zero paper towels, or hand soap. Floors were covered with trash piece of paper towel, toilet paper, Band-Aids. People were just sitting in their cars, listening to rap music and smoking weed That weren’t even camping there. There was zero security. Not exactly a family friendly spot. And you can’t have a fire pit. But it is convenient if you want to wake up early and go fishing right away.
