About Campground

Pine Mountain is one of Kentuckys most scenic parks located in the heart of the Kentucky Ridge State Forest and features some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the state. The Herndon J. Evans lodge is a very modern resort with a hint of a historic past. The passage of time has not diminished the beauty and workmanship of the original sandstone and chestnut log construction. Pine Mountain was the first state park being established in 1924 and having most of the park constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps - CCC. The park has over 1600 acres with over half being dedicated to a state nature preserve. The Herdon J. Evans Lodge has 30 rooms, and there are 11 two bedroom cottages, 9 one bedroom log cabins with dining facilities, 14 hiking trails and home of the 18-hole Wasioto Winds Golf Course. The park also has meeting and banquet space, along with an outdoor amphitheater.

Stayed in their cottage for Labor Day weekend. It was very clean and nice.

They offer an outdoor pool, dining room, and bar. They offered music the night we were there. But it was not very good they needed more of a variety. They have a putt putt course. That could be really cute if it had some attention. We played on it each day. The kids absolutely loved it.

Service in the dining room was very slow. Great for the outdoor lover hiking in small towns close by.

We enjoyed our time there lots a fun with the family.

I have stopped to eat here plenty of times. Whether I'm camping in the mountains, or bear hunting like I was last weekend. They have a catfish meal that is to die for! I usually don't care for catfish but they serve it in little strips with golden brown crispy breading, hush puppies, french fries, and seasonal vegetables you can't go wrong.. they also offer a cocktail sauce with horseradish mix! I went twice in one day on my last bear hunt. First I had the catfish dinner. When I came back, they had a full Christmas dinner spread Buffet style! Turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, tasty desserts, macaroni and cheese, steamed carrots, full salad bar.. simply delightful! I was camping up there one time and they even offered me a free breakfast. Very nice friendly service. Everyone is so professional and cheerful. You can tell these employees really work hard and take pride in what they are doing! I've never had a bad experience in the five or six times I have been there visiting. Side note, my parents used to eat here every Saturday morning when my mother was pregnant with me and they would have the ham and cheese omelette. The View and the restaurant is beautiful overlooking the Appalachian mountains! You just can't beat it.

Our room at the lodge was very clean and given the time of the year that we came we had the place basically all to ourselves. The staff and ranger were very courteous and friendly. My son and I did the Honeymoon Falls Loop trail, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
