A great trailhead that grants hikers quick access to the high Sierras! The photo was taken at Pine lake which is about a 4.5 mile hike from the trailhead.
A perfect cool place to rest if your campsite elsewhere is too hot. Would have given 5 stars if there was an outhouse/portapotty.
Absolutely beautiful hike! It really triggered my fear of heights as we switchbacked up. A few spots with loose rocks and skinny trails were the culprits of that. It was worth it, but definitely be aware.
July 1st 2023- Gable Lake pretty snowed in. You can bushwhack and go through snow to get to a view of the lake but right now it’s snowy all around the shore.
