The campground was empty except for one guy with a metal detector and the park ranger was cool with me messing around Camas Cr. all I wanted. Beautiful and clean.

The beauty of this scenic area cannot be captured on camera. The ponderosa pines are stunning and if you catch a sunrise just after snow fall the colors are unforgettable. I wish camping was open longer throughout the year. We have stayed here many times and driven past it when closed many more times.

If twisty roads with little traffic are your thing, this route is well worth a visit. Trees, a rocky canyon, a racing river. For a nominal fee, I stayed overnight at a primitive state park campsite beside Camas Creek. Glad I went!
