We had high hopes for this place, seemed like the perfect place to stay near OBX. Nope.

First, we booked accommodations according to their website. We asked for a non lake spot, it's cheaper. When we arrived, the very unpleasant woman told us non lakeside spots were full-time only and if we didn't like it we could leave. We should have just left but we were tired and hot, and were going to be visiting family nearby, so we stayed. Huge mistake.

Obviously the rude woman was the co owner, she took offense to us asking to be in a more affordable spot, and she literally stacked the next 4 people right next to us. There was literally 30 open spots all around the lake. When we (three different customers) asked the other co owner, the husband, if they could space us out he said "you'll have to call the office to complain about it because I can't change it, it's all up to her". Ridiculous. Wifi is non existent.

Father's day weekend everyone who had a dog was allowing them to roam and run free. Park mgmt did absolutely nothing about it. Pathetic.

This place is literally 35 minutes from anything, it took us 1.5 hrs to get to the Wright Brothers Memorial.

The horse flies were horrible, they actually were chasing us in the car when we would leave! The full-time area is sketchy, it's extremely run down.

We paid for a month but left after two weeks. No point in trying to get our money back because if I had gone back into the office, I'd probably need bail money. There's plenty of beautiful places to camp nearby, go somewhere else.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

This campground is way out back!😉 We rented one of their cabins, definitely dated some and somewhat dirty, but it is a campground. The lady at the desk was very helpful, she gave us a list of nearby restaurants to help us decide! We would recommend North River.

Great trip with friends! Quiet and clean campground. A greeting when we arrived was like we’ve been there before. We plan to be back for another trip.

The only negative thing I've got to say about

North River Campground is that their grass has mole crickets....... Most campers will never see them. Most campers don't know what a mole cricket is, but I'm just picky .......

*Good people

*Quite living

* Very reasonable

* Very enjoyable
