Freddie is extremely shady and will rob you blind if given the chance. I was getting married and was told we could put 300 down on advance to hold our space. I had booked 5 nights for the even we spoke he said whatever we gave him was refundable up till 60 days before the event except 300 from the orginal deposit. 7 months before the wedding me and my fiance split up. First thing I did was text Freddie. I had given him $1000.00 per put agreement I was entitled to $700 back since the $300 was none refundable. I got no reply I called texted and all and only got him when I called from a friends phone and he HUNG UP ON ME! Since then I have had people I know tell me of there personal items going "missing" well at this location such as cash, jewelry, and othe items of value. DO NOT STAY HERE. If you do keep your valuables close! And dont except a refund if you book and cancel in advance!

I wanted to go away to a weight loss retreat so I goggled weight loss retreat and clicked on Bookretreats.com where I saw a listing in Albamare NC for a 15 day fasting /detox for about $700. The pictures showed a few bedrooms & a living area in a house in the country. I made contact to confirm if they were open & the owner Freddie Morgan emailed me that the dates that the price listed on the website is for the dates that automatically populate on it, which is Christmas week. He said those same accamodations now (June) are $1700. But, he said, he could put me in a tent for $700 for the 15 days. I acquiesced and agreed to that, even though it felt like a Bait and Switch tactic. I flew from NY to NC and stayed 1 (ONE) night, out of the 14 I had paid for, and then left. It was very uncomfortable in the tent, the tent had wasps, the bathroom was inside a kitchen used by campers, on a dirt floor, with a shower curtain for a door, that was not at all private. You could clearly hear the conversations of the people in the kitchen and you could see them through the shower curtain and they can see you, while you're trying to use the bathroom. The tent zipper got stuck repeatedly so that I was stuck inside the tent until I could finally manage to open it. It was extremely hot, and fasting in those conditions is extremely difficult. I reached out to both Freddie Morgan and bookretreats.com to get a refund but Freddie refused. He took my $700 for 1 miserable night sleeping in a tent in his barn. He markets his property as a weight loss retreat, writers retreat, stargazing retreat, airbnb, sleep-in-a-barn, and the Fred T. Morgan Homeplace Hotel. Since he is a jack of all trades and master of none, with no medical certificate, yet running a business that is for people to go almost 15 days without food in nearly 100 degree weather, he should at least be cognizant that the situation -sleeping in a hot wasp filled tent while fasting-will not work for everyone.

Be very careful staying here. No private bathroom. Only a shower curtain to cover restroom that is open to public. Anyone at anytime can walk in or just look through the holes in the wall. NOTHING is private. It is one of those places you need to look for cameras ESPECIALLY if you are with a female. This place is great for single men wanting to camp out BUT NOT for women and children. Just be real careful on who you take out there. It is a barn and those bedrooms are not private. They see everything going on. Your children will be open to everyone because you can't lock the doors. Anyone can walk in on your children and or watch them through the holes in wall.

This place is a wonderful little gem away from the everyday busy life in the town's and citys. It's close enough to the town to get anything you might want. The host Fred and his family are wonderful and friendly. The land is beautiful. It's a nice get away, and is perfect if you want to do a little camping, or rent out the farm house and the star here are amazing in the nights sky. I know my family and I will come here again next year. Oh yea and you don't have to worry about your children here they are perfectly safe, you can look all over and won't find anything funny. I couldn't believe someone would say that. This place is great for kids and adults.
