We recently enjoyed a wonderful campsite at this well maintained & beautiful state park. Unfortunately we had an issue with our RV that caused us to leave earlier than planned. Nonetheless, Karen (seasonal assistant) and the superintendent were marvelous in helping us make the most of our time there in spite of our equipment hiccup. Super nice vacation location indeed!
Bathrooms were amazing! Loved the hot shower after tubing and hiking all day.
Incredibly interesting displays at the visitor center about the history of the river and its inhabitants. New facilities include hammock-ready riverside campsites and clean bathhouse. Friendly staff. Trails for hiking and multiple put-in sites for floating down the river.
We had a great time at New River State Park. We had site 9 and loved it. It was clean and big and we felt isolated but were right across from the water and the bathroom. We have been to several state parks but this one was one of our favorites. The bathrooms were clean. There are lots of trails and a pretty river nearby. The town of Jefferson is about 20 minutes away and it had a great downtown brewery and dinner options. It was easy getting in and out of our site. The only negative I can think of is that check out is 11am. All of the other parks we have stayed at it's 3pm. Other than that it was perfect.
Great place for a picnic and a ride on the scenic New River Trail. Great and scenic ride. Parking is $7 but well worth it.
