Located 42 miles from Tampa and 40 miles from Ocala. Take US Hwy 19/98 to Halls River Rd. Then go 1.9 miles to the park on the right.
We’ve gone as 3 different families, the past 4 years- all renting the waterfront cabins. We can bring the boat and dock it right in front of the cabin. There’s a restaurant to eat dinner at with live music within walking distance from cabins. There’s a pool & huge inflatable slide the kids love. There’s a remember jungle gym type of park for the kids. There’s a hall they serve good and inexpensive breakfast at each morning. Able to do laundry. Pet friendly. A huge public fire pit with swinging benches. Honestly it has everything. We love it here!!!
This could be a really nice park but it is full of seasonal & full timers. They give you a paper with rules that no one follows & the management does not enforce. The neighbor had no room to park because of all the stuff he had in front of his Fifth wheel (despite the rules) & he tried to park us in as we tried to stay in our site. We picked a site on the end to have a little more room. There was more than ample overflow parking at the end of the row.
Most people we met there were really nice people
The Marina & the Tiki Bar were nice with lots of activities, drinks. Bands & food on weekends there or at the club house. They even had a dragonboat team, which really surprised us.
The only places you can access the river is at the Marina. The full timers or seasonal are crammed in there like sardines with anyone traveling put in spaces in the middle of the campground between them. The sites are a free for all.
Do not make reservations if you think you are unsure. There are NO Refunds.
I am sure some people like it, but it was not for us.
We have crossed this campground off our list & put it on the "Never Stay" list.
The lady in gift shop is always Super friendly and helpful. I always come in and buy The Jalapeño cheese puffs in the small bags. Great staff all over the grounds and keep it extremely clean and well ran!! Thanks so much.
