About Campground

The natural theme park of Lake Louisa State Park showcases a diversity of wildlife, including deer, bobcat, gopher tortoises, fox squirrel and flighted creatures like bald eagles and osprey.

The park is home to 11 distinct natural plant communities and lies within the eastern boundary of the Green Swamp Area of Critical State Concern and the northern boundary of the Lake Wales Ridge.

The park’s three major lakes, Louisa, Hammond and Dixie, transform idle observers into active participants with opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Bicycling is popular on the park’s seven miles of paved roads over rolling hills and on the 20 miles of unpaved multi-use trails.

A wonderful state park that’s landscape is more Midwest prairie than what one thinks of belonging to Florida. All types of overnight accommodations, camping, glamping and cabins. Multiple lakes with miles of trails. Restrooms were always nearby and there is a decent playground for kids. Kayak and SUP rentals as well as guided horseback riding. Definitely will be back. I don’t have a dog, but saw many people with dogs and cats on leashes enjoying the park.

This place is awesome. Whether you're going on a run, hole, bike ride, or camping. It never disappoints. We wanted to go for just an hour to get a little exercise in and we ended up staying 20 minutes more. We had such a great time. The trails are abundant and are shaded in some areas. Make sure to bring plenty of water and drink away your way. We will definitely be back.

My husband booked us a 2 night stay in one of the parks "Glamping Tent Sites" and WOW!! We were so impressed with how fun and beautiful the park was! Definitely coming back and soon!

We were welcomed by the park rangers at the front gate and given a map and directions to the site with landmarks. We were site #1 right across from the canteen. And a short walk to the bathrooms/showers/laundry.

Our beautiful glamping tent was super roomy! A two person bed, Keurig, window unit/ optional heater, two chairs, and bedside tables. Remote controlled indoor and outdoor lights were perfect for setting the ambiance.

We enjoyed a campfire in the provided fire ring . And had the option to cook with a charcoal grill.

The park had miles and miles of hiking trails that also accommodate bikes and horses! Water activities like canoeing and kayaking or paddle boarding for renting !

All in all, the park was so clean and well maintained. We had a 10 out of 10 experience and can't wait to come back !

Great place to get out and enjoy nature. I went here with my son for a Valentines day hike . I loved how "old Florida" this place felt. We enjoyed seeing natures tea in the lakes and saw quite a few birds. There are 10 lakes in the park, And we seen a few small fish near the shore of Lake Louisa itself. There was a lot of spanish moss on the trees and even though it's still winter right now, some flowers are blooming. We didn't see any wildlife, but with the amount of people here I wouldn't expect to. Overall I'd rate this park a 9/10 Only because there are so many trails that intertwine and overlap. If you're not paying attention you could end up taking a longer walk than intended. Other than that this place is wonderful.

Loved this park! We were there in early Feb for a quick weekend getaway. The views are of the cabin #17. Very spacious and I was quite surprised that it had a coffee maker, dishwasher, and oven. It also has two bathrooms which are convenient when you are with a large family.

We did kayak on Saturday and horseback riding on Sunday. Reservation is recommended for most activities.

There are coupons on Groupon for 1 single person kayak. We needed the tandem so we could not use that coupon.

Highly recommend this beautiful state park!

I forgot that it includes ac/heating 🙂
