We did not actually end up staying at Muir Trail Ranch as plans changed numerous times during the week, so I can't speak for the Ranch itself. I would like to give the staff a pat on the back though for a great job communicating via email and for their patience and understanding as our plans kept changing. Thank you Hailey and Rivers, we look forward to spending some time there at JMT next season! Nice work!

Great place to stay as a mid trail break on the JMT or to start and end a high Sierras backpacking loop. Cute cabins, great food, and friendly staff. Spendy, but prices didn't seem out of line with what it must cost to get supplies in.

There are not proper signs, so that hikers often end up here. Staff is very rude to them. I watched a raspy voiced staff member making people exit via the longest, most dangerous means possible. This is illegal. People who paid money to resupply at the backpackers camp are also turned around for following the signs that say "Muir trail ranch". This place is very expensive and nd has no amenities unless you count endless swarms of mosquitoes.

Had a great experience with my re-supply here. Bo and company were very friendly and helpful. I disagree with other posters that the re-supply point is hard to find. There is literately a sign pointing in the direction of the re-supply, I’m not sure how much more clear it needs to be. Well stocked hiker boxes as-well(tortillas, PB packets, misters ziplocks, etc.). Also free toilet paper!!!.

MTR is an incredible oasis along the JMT. The accommodations are comparatively total luxury for those needing a zero, or JMT day hikers like myself. The communal food was incredible, Kay and crew were amazing, and sharing stories is the refuel you didn’t know you needed. Hearty dinners with fresh greens (we had chicken and mushrooms, mashed potatoes, burgers, lasagna). Hot breakfast with fresh fruit and you can make a sandwich for the trail. Finally, the combination of a bed, hot shower and soak in a hot spring is what makes this splurge worth it. It’s not cheap to stay at because it’s not cheap to operate, but it’s worth every penny. The staff is great too, you work here because you love it here. Ranch Life!
