Cool and quiet, the sound of the stream makes for a good night sleep. 20 to 30 degree drop in temperature from Lone Pine a short drive down the mountain. Great staging camp for a Mt Whitney climb.
We had one night here as we made our way up to Tahoe in our sprinter van. Parking can be tight and uneven so make sure you bring your leveling blocks. The host, Bob was amazing and his golden Dallas!! My 10 year old son loves to fish and didn’t bring our poles and we asked him if he had any bait cause we found some string and hooks that we tied to a stick. He saw our setup and let us use his pole and gave us some bait!! We ended catching 5 trouts in the small creek and had a blast. My son did not want to leave!! We will definitely back with our golden so she can play with Dallas!!
Beautiful. Great hosts. Clean bathrooms. If you’re looking for flush toilets and showers, a spot for your rv and generator, or a strip mall, this is not that place. If you are looking for a place to shoot things and throw bottles on the ground this is not that place. If you want peace and quiet and a break from cell service, insanely great hiking and sleeping under a billion stars, this is that place.
