The campsites are well-spaced along the lake shore, with several tent-only, walk-in sites overlooking the lake. Boat rentals, educational programs, groceries and showers are all nearby. Firewood is available on-site for a fee. Bears inhabit the area, so bear-proof lockers are provided for campers to store food. WINTER: Open with no fees and no services through winter Creekside campsites; 6 units total for both tent and RV camping.
From Mammoth Lakes, California, drive south on Highway 395 for approximately 13 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and proceed west up the canyon for about 10 miles. At the lake, follow the signs to the family campground.
Maximum of 2 vehicles or 1 RV per site; trailer counts as vehicle, a fee of $8 for extra vehicles will be collected on-site
Bears are in the area, so please use the Bear Lockers provided to store food.
Great campground. Super clean. Been to many campgrounds, and never have I seen the host (Bill) actually go to the sites and clean the fire pits, pick up the trash around the area, talk to the visitors, and be so laid back. Amazing place to take the family. Thank you again Bill for taking care of our campgrounds.
So many beautiful things to say about this place where do I begin. The fishing is excellent, lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. Children friendly, campgrounds are all amazing. Be sure to drink lots of fluids and bring electrolytes (gatorades) this place is dry and will pull all the fluids from you. Nights are cold so bundle up. Bear country so be prepared. Its normal to see people with firearms for safety here.
So thrilled to be able to enjoy day-use of this beautiful place. It's perfect for families to come and picnic, kayak, swim, fish, etc. We especially enjoyed walking the entire perimeter of the lake, on a well-marked trail.
Spent four nights tent camping here in late July. Very scenic, near lots of good hiking including an easy walk around the lake. Plenty of people fishing and paddling on the lake. Sadly the snow this year made it too cold for swimming. Campsites 21 through 26 are walk-in, meaning hauling your stuff about 500 feet from the parking area and a good walk from potable water and non-bush toilets. Site 26 is a bit up hill. Campsites each have a large bear box. Overall a great place. Next year I'll come later in the season for hoping for a slightly a warmer lake and less mosquitoes.
