Come to Moon Ranch on Chalk Mountain, 10 minutes from historic Glen Rose, TX, and make camp in this neatly secluded cedar and elm treed area. The four camps are located on 10.5 acres of land, so feel free to stretch out and relax. Bring a hammock; no problem finding two trees close enough!!
Walk out to the three acre clearing at night and view the beautiful night sky with almost no light pollution, or camp in our scenic open camping area. On a clear night the milky way is incredible!
Our location is five minutes to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Ten Minutes to Dinosaur Valley State Park(both require reservations), 15 Minutes to Big Rocks(free shallow river access and boulders to climb on). Open field for stargazing. Close to Paluxy River, Brazos River, Glen Rose shops, boutiques, eateries in town and on the square.
We have a mixture of private campsites secluded in the cedar trees, perfect for a romantic getaway; or larger campsites that can easily accommodate families. Absolutely LGBTQ friendly!
Kisha is amazing, we had an issue with our amenity reservations, her number was posted at the office as they were closed for Christmas eve and Christmas day, she quickly answered, fixed the issue and made sure everything else on our trip went perfect. She is friendly, welcoming and all around amazing.
Adam was our safari tour guide and was very informative and great with the kids asking a million questions.

The Moon River Ranch was absolutely the perfect hideaway for our company's offsite meeting! The Main Lodge was the most unique, amazing accommodations for our group of 22. The entire property is breathtaking, from the beautiful country style quaint atmosphere, to the wonderful surrounding wildlife, to the great team-building options, and the superb staff! Onsite catering was so fabulous too! Shout out to Traci for her superb customer service, every single step of the way! Going above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect! We will definitely return for another offsite meeting! Extra shout out to Jesus, our excellent host on our skeet shooting and Safari adventure! So much fun!!
We had the most AMAZING time!! The staff treated us like family and it was the most fun and relaxing weekend ever!! 10 out of 10 would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! We stayed in the magnolia house and did the safari tour!! Loved every second!! We will definitely be going back!!!
I went for a wedding and was so impressed with all of the facilities, grounds, hospitality, and vibe. I only stayed 1 night, but felt like I was a 'regular' by the time I left.
Traci is Exceptional! She was great at anticipating and responding to any needs, anytime! She's a great people person!
This place is so peaceful, if that's what you're looking for... on the other hand, it can be very energetic in the party barn. ;)
I'm so happy to know about this place now.
It has 2 beaches right on the Brazos River, and with day passes available + very comfortable lodging, this will probably be my part-time home next summer! 😀
For the most part, everything about Moon River Ranch was great! Our only issue was with communication - trying to get in touch by email ahead of our visit. Once there, the staff was amazing and accommodating. Bring your own food, and you'll do just fine! A suggestion would be to list what activities are not currently available on the website for more visibility. A wonderful getaway experience!
