We found the hot spring, and it is hot! The head of the spring is 1 mile up from the trailhead.
There is a hot spring just half a mile from the trailhead. You have to cross the river twice before the springs, and many more times if you go further. I went less than 3 miles and crossed it 12 times!
One of the most amazing trails for a day hike.
Theres lots of water for the duration of the hike, and many river crossings. We did 30+ river crossings by doing Little Bear to Middle fork (Jordan hot springs) and out to the visitors center.
Highly recommended.
This is a beautiful trail - abounding in wildlife. I saw heron, deer, numerous birds...all in the first half-mile. The tread is a bit sandy due to horse traffic, but not bad. The hot springs are a bit disappointing. They are very shallow - even laying on your back you probably could not cover your body. That's a minor gripe to a beautiful trail.
