Located 15 miles north of Detour, 3 miles east of Raber in the St. Mary's River and is accessible only by boat. There is no ferry service available.
There's pretty much nothing there but I always really enjoy my visits.
Sheldon was the best DNR State Park host ever. There are multiple hiking trails well taken care of. There are houses to rent. 10 platform camp sites and is a bird watchers area. We arrived by boat and tied up to sea wall that has been prepared for pleasure craft with ladders and bumpers. Highly recommend a stay to explore.
We had the entire island to ourselves. The park hosts Sheldon and Jennifer welcomed us when we arrived and came down to the dock when we departed. They made sure all our needs were met. Beautiful hiking and boating.
