Loved camping here. The lake isn't great for swimming but it is good for fishing and kayaking. Very secluded in the Hiawatha National Forest.

The camp site here is very nice, although as the review earlier states- it doesn’t have a picnic table nor a grate to cook on. There is plenty of down wood around for your fires, and the entry into the water is perfect for kayaks/canoes. The lake is also very pretty. The downside - we fished this lake for 2 days, and caught only one baby perch. We did kayak through the channel to get to Three Island Lake, the fishing there was much better- however the trek to get there is intense. Very shallow water- overgrown with brush(that is home to many spiders, so be prepared to be covered in them when you’ve made it through). The other downside I had for this site, people. We had people drive down the long windy road to the campsite several times. The campsite is the only thing on the road! We’re dispersed camping because we don’t want to see people! We put “downed logs” across the road to deter people, it didn’t work! They got out and moved the logs to get through! This would be semi acceptable to me if our tent and camp wasn’t in view of the logs their moving. Some of these people came up at 730am, 1 drove up at 9pm. What were they thinking? The road dead ends at our campsite. People had to turn around right next to our tent. We had to move the car twice for people. Needless to say it was extremely irritating. If choosing this site, just know that people will be driving up at all hours of the day.

I would give it 5 stars for the view, 4 stars for the layout and 0 stars for the mosquitoes!

Rustic camping, no amenities.
