The Island can be reached by Ferry from Charlevoix or by air. Campground is located on the north end of Beaver Island. It is off Donegal Bay Road one mile outside the Harbor.
Unbelievable View. This is a strictly rustic campground. Select a site on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. It is also right on the Water Trail route. You can watch freighters pass out in the distance and also Lansing Shoal Lighthouse flash at night.
Boy thus place has made alot of changes over the thirty years we've been coming here! I believe it's all for the better. Plus there's a million dollar view out over Lake Michigan! That's not changed at all. Prices are higher, but you have a choice of going rustic or hooking up to electricity (which is higher price wise). They've improved some on the bathrooms and there are showers available now too. You can actually reserve a spot now! There's also a camp host. He was very nice and would patrol now and then with his cute pepper, just making sure all was well. Really enjoyed hanging here and making more memories. 😊
My favorite campground for multiple summers . Cannot beat the view , price or showers . Camp attendant is awesome as well . Very close to town . Potable water available via hose, by showers . Showers are hot .
This campground is amazing. You can tell there have been updates done in the last few years including beautiful outdoor showers with hot water, electric at a few campsites, and there are two sites with cement pads. We stayed at site 16 and we had a beautiful view of the lake, while still being a safe distance from the edge of the bluff (we have a toddler), and it also had electric. The fire pits have cooking grills attached which looked very new. There is a paved bike trail that leads from town to the site, and it was actually faster than driving. The camp host Tony is the nicest person ever! He kept us informed about aurora forecasts and we were able to see a beautiful show of the northern lights, along with shooting stars. I would suggest bringing a red light to use at night. The beach access is a bit steep, but the beach is beautiful. We cannot wait to come back, it was one of our favorite campsites yet.
Love this place! We initially reserved 1 night at a campsite overlooking the lake and ended up also reserving the following night because we liked it so much. We loved the view, the proximity to town activities, and the campground hosts Tony and Otis. We love rustic camping but are also big fans of hot showers after a long day of hiking and exploring the island. We will be back!
