Hasn't rained in a while and the ditches are half full. Beautiful hike saw a deer right ad I started my hike. All gravel roads great for biking.

Made a one hour loop biking the gravel roads on a hot summer morning and had the place entirely to myself. Peaceful place with deer, turkeys and plenty of bugs. Mixed pine forest and swampy hammock with lots of standing water on the trails. Probably much better in the winter.

Spent two wonderful nights here early March 2022. The road had some soft spots but any vehicle can make the drive to the campsite.

The porta potty was okay clean. The honey wagon is coming to pump it out once per week on Tuesdays.

Campsite 4 is the most isolated. We were in Campsite 1 (some privacy). It is wide open between Sites 2 and 3.

This is a special forest, from ancient roads to be discovered, gopher tortoise, king fisher, turkey, deer, black bears, sand hill cranes, wood storks, Florida folk, crayfish and getting back in touch with what's important in our confusing and divisive capitalistic society [ESPECIALLY IN ST JOHNS COUNTY, IM PRAYING FOR YALL, SO MUCH GREED FROM THE 1% IN ST JOHNS COUNTY IT LITERALLY MAKES ME SICK AND SO SAD, GET OVER YOURSELF AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBORS, PLEEEEEEEASE!]

If you like to be one with nature and explore no matter if you see amazing wildlife or not. This is a nice Forrest to explore. Many no-vehicle trails and all are numbered. Easy to travel dirt roads with road name signs (only one sign doesn’t match good street name). A few roads can be rough and muddy but fine for trucks and 4WD. Small camping area with non-potable water access and port-potties. Wish it had good acres to the river but it doesn’t so minus one star. Parking in front off Double Gate.
