About Campground

The Martha’s Vineyard Campground began as a vacant wooded lot in 1968. The land was purchased by Charles and Jeanne Feeney from a retired doctor living in Vineyard Haven. Charles “Chuck” Feeney was an aerospace engineer at the time and was always taking his kids camping. His dream was to have a place for the family to camp and call it their own. So together with his wife and five children he converted a bus into a camper and carved out a site amongst the wild blueberry bushes and scrub oak trees. Our family fell in love with the island. We discovered all the island has to offer and found it irresistible. We were the tourists of yesteryear and what attracted our family back then still exists today: beautiful beaches, fabulous fishing, quaint villages and amazing sunsets. From the rolling hills of Aquinnah to the dunes of Katama, there is no place on earth like it.

As a frequent car camper in New England I have a few favorite campgrounds that I find hit the sweat spot. The MV Family Campground is at the top of that list. It has wonderfully wooded campsites, hot showers and *clean* bathrooms. In the evening there is often a large fire going where other guests gather. The camp store has any essentials we might have forgotten. The staff is always super helpful and has always helped us make the most of our time on the island. We have visited the campground with our car and that makes the logistics easier of course, but when we haven’t been to get a car reservation we have just gone over in “backpacking mode” and used the bus to get around the island (and eaten most meals out). It makes for a (reasonably) affordable way to enjoy MV!

Awesome family oriented campground with very professional and friendly staff. Michael, Allie, Bree, and Brenden. Small bathrooms but some of the cleanest I’ve ever experienced at a campground. Two room cabin was very clean and was great sleeping quarters. Awesome playground for kids and grounds are well maintained. And Lauren is an awesome Recreation Activities Director!!

Had an amazing time at MVFC. The cabin was perfect for our needs. The outdoor space was fabulous with a firepit, propane grill, and grill utensils. The camp store has everything you could possibly need. The common social space has live music and other fun events. The bathrooms were extremely clean. The outdoor showers were super comfortable. Would 100% go again!

Great stay. We stayed in a large RV site toward the front of the park. The RV sites were a good size with decent tree cover. We arrived on a late ferry after dark and when the owners saw us pulling in they were kind enough to help us back into our site... a first time experience in over 15 years of rv camping! I really appreciated that. The site was immaculate when we arrived and raked clean. The utilities were in the perfect location and seemed to be recently updated. Shore power was excellent. I was getting great steady voltage on my electronic power overload sensor, decent water pressure, and I appreciated the sewer receptical had a spring loaded cap... the first I've seen at an RV park. The park was extremely quiet at night, with the exception of some road noise as the rv sites are out front toward the main road. All in all a great experience and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
