With two beautiful clear water lakes, undeveloped shoreline, Laura Lake Campground provides an exceptional camping opportunity.
Campsites are located on the southwestern shore of 110-acre Laura Lake. The picnic and swim beach are located on the adjacent 50-acre Gordon Lake. Both lakes have developed back-in boat landings. Please note these lakes are restricted to electric motors only.
Laura Lake Campground has 41 sites. A majority of sites can accommodate campers as long as 30 feet and longer. Drinking water, vault toilets, swim beach, picnic area and a boat landing are also provided at this location. All roads are paved with blacktop.
Both Laura and Gordon Lakes provide good fishing opportunities.
Individual campsite fee is $15, or $7.50 with the use of an Interagency pass (access or senior). The interagency pass applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fees or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party. There is a $5 recreation use fee for the Gordon Lake beach. This does not apply to registered campers. The Forest also has an annual pass available for $30.
The reservation system provides visitors the opportunity to reserve their favorite spot during specific times, ensuring a place to stay, which will be beneficial to local users as well as users traveling from afar. Sites can be reserved at www.recreation.gov or by calling Recreation.gov at 1-877-444-6777 or TDD 1-877-833-6777. The campground will still have first come first served sites available for those who prefer a more spontaneous adventure.
The first loop is very popular through most of the camping season. The back loop sees much lower use; you may have it to yourself mid-week, even in peak season. The property includes plenty of reservable and non-reservable campsites. Visitors shouldn't find any issue getting a spot, even without reserving ahead.
This is a very tame Campground it's secluded yet kind of bare the campsites are right next to each other so there's not much privacy if it's packed. Be sure to bring a flashlight bug spray and wood.
Most of the campsites can fit very very large campers... also have tents only spots.
I think it's honestly a little pricey but it's well-maintained the outhouses are very clean for being out houses, also there is water and power so you can't go wrong I guess...
There's an awesome hiking trail that hikes all the way around the lake it is quite the hike so be prepared water, bug spray.. tons of bug spray the halfway point there is a sign that brings you on a wooden bridge to the bog that you turn to the left and to the right there is a bench that you can sit by on the lake...
The fishing is mostly Bass
Dogs are welcome but not in the swim area
They have a beautiful boat launch for the dogs to swim at...keep em chained
Also the beach is buoyed off and not very deep so it's good for children and a little easier to rest as a parent.
Be sure to bring bikes if you have children they love riding around the campgrounds.
The sky at night is beyond beautiful and you must sleep there to actually experience this place
Happy and safe travels to all!!!!
The locals are very friendly I recommend the shell nearest to it for supplies if needed.
Nice camping spot to get away from civilization. The closest town is Armstrong Creek where there is an opportunity for fuel, food, and some incidentals. There are no electrical sites nor are there showers so make sure you bring your battery packs, solar chargers, and portable showers.
The nights are quiet and some might say pitch black as thousands of stars are overhead.
The campsite has three bodies of water; Gordon, Laura, and Bog lake. Gordon has a sand beach and boat landing. Laura has a boat landing, and Bog has a wooden bridge which allows one to launch a small boat in the bog.
Other activities include a hike around Laura lake and 6 miles of biking. The biking trail is in essence a grass and leaf covered logging road. There are not many hills and the only challenge is the very soft terrain making it slow going and grueling. Not recommended for families as the soft terrain will suck the energy from kids quick. Not recommended for bikers looking for a single track experience. Best suited for a horse and hiking trail.
Awesome campground. Great hiking trails, clean outhouses, fresh water pump.
Saw lots of wildlife. Sites are private enough, woodsy enough.
