Las Vegas Bay Campground is located just minutes from Las Vegas on the western edge of the park and has lush vegetation that shades nearly every campsite. There is a mix of palm trees, oleanders, mature cottonwood trees and native vegetation that also helps provide privacy between sites. Wildlife in the area includes many species of birds and lizards along with antelope squirrels and the occasional coyote.
Las Vegas Bay is a location where you can quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of the city to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. Bluffs Trail is a well-defined trail leads along the bluffs with grand views overlooking Las Vegas Wash. The trailhead starts next to site #72 in the campground. This area is ideal to bird watch, so be sure to bring your binoculars and camera. There are no services within walking distance and no access to the lake. However, trails, launch ramps, fishing piers, marinas and restaurants can be reached by car in about 20 minutes.
This campground is managed by the National Park Service and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

As far as a tent camping campground goes, I'd say they could remove the rocks in the areas designated for the tent. I had a rock in my back no matter where I put my sleeping bag. Other than that, it was gorgeous, and there is plenty to do. We went hiking, nature watching, and exploring. The restrooms are clean with flushable toilets. Wish there were showers and electricity. Electricity was advertised, and didn't work.
Where are the fees for this park going? They certainly are not going into maintaining the campgrounds. The dump stations are not maintained and are not user friendly. There is no supervision at Las Vegas Bay campground and has not been for a while. We where threatened by a group of people, they tried to run over my husband with their truck. We called 911 and they sent Park Rangers that showed up way after the culprits took off..
No camphost, nobody enforcing any laws! Noisy, big, generators, some, running all day, evening, night! These campgrounds need to have better generator restrictions. Two hours a day, only!!! Use solar power in the desert!!! Also, some, people playing loud music, and their dogs barking constantly. Very Rude, and Disrespectful!! Please, be respectful of other campers!! You're not alone!! This is not your home!! You're a visitor, behave like one!! If you're staying over the weekend, it's even worse. Young people partying, with loud music all night until 5am, loud pick up trucks, with music, racing through the campground loops at 4am in the morning until 7am, terrorizing, campers!! I got 0 sleep one night! And, no park ranger to contact! You're on your own!! This campground is completely run down!!!
Noisy dirty.. freeloaders everywhere. Extremely large bonfires.. thought I was an extra in the movie Independence Day. No security/ranger state park dude.. nobody seems to care. Neither do I anymore. Lake Mead recreation area SUCKS. Never thought I'd say that after 8 decades.
ADIOS & BYE BYE.
I try my best to write nice reviews but this one is difficult for even giving it a two star. My friend and I stayed here for two days, it’s definitely pricey, $20 per night for how awful it looks “ trashy.” The trees haven’t been cleaned up at all, there’s trash everywhere… the women’s bathroom was disgusting, no soap or paper towels. To pay you have to get online which is a hassle when the service is not good. Parking is annoying especially at night when there’s only a few spot that are big enough to fit a 16ft camper in. The camp host isn’t here, She’s 8 miles down the road. There is water and a dump site. No hookups. Definitely won’t be returning.
