In an effort to provide more opportunities to enjoy our parks, Lake Metroparks offers tent camping so campers may experience unique natural features and the great outdoors. Reservations are required.
Campsites provide a “rustic” experience for small groups of up to eight people staying in tents. Campers must hike or paddle to the campsites. The sites are set back from the developed areas of the parks from about 0.25 mile to more than a mile. Each location is different and provides a quiet, intimate natural experience—much different than crowded campgrounds.
The paddle-in sites may require a three- to eight-mile paddle by canoe or kayak to reach the campsite. The idea is to paddle a stretch of the Grand River, spend the night under the stars and then paddle another stretch the next day. Imagine paddling 27 miles and spending two nights on the wild and scenic Grand River! That is all possible in your Lake Metroparks.
Each site has a designated area to pitch a tent, a place to build a fire, a grill and a picnic table. The sites do not have restrooms, running water or trash cans. Campers are expected to practice a “leave no trace” camping ethic including carrying in and carrying out all supplies and trash, with the goal of leaving the area better than it was found.
Sites are $10 per night for Lake County residents; $20 per night for out-of-county visitors.
There is a limit of three outstanding permits at one time with a three night limit on each reservation for each household.
A great quiet place to experience a magnificent view of Lake Erie. Nice elevated structure and beach level viewing as well. Good sized parking lot and a few neat little hiking trails.
The Bluffs never disappoints... A hidden gem in my opinion. The views are amazing, the top of the tower is a gift. The walking paths are always so peaceful. Some major work has been done by the beach access there...new stairs, boulders- it seems to prevent erosion. It's one of my favorite places on Lake Erie. Plenty of parking, seating, and grassy area with views for a picnic or a reflective afternoon.
This was a really cool spot I would have never known about... Luckily, I met another cool Adventure Dad at the Holden Arbetorem, and he suggested we check it out, so we did, and we weren't disappointed! The tower is really neat with a great view over the lake. There's is a really easy walk down to the lake where literally every angle is picture perfect. Great spot to sit and relax, I wish we had more time when we stopped by, so next time, we'll be sure to plan on staying a bit longer. There are lots of really nice rocks. If you're one of those rock painters or collectors, here's a good spot to build your stash. It's definitely worth checking out. They have a restroom, too.
Great park with easy to walk trails and wonderful views of the lake. Stopped here to stretch legs a bit during a long drive and enjoyed the convenience and location of the park. It wasn't busy and was laid out well. Overall a great experience I'd recommend.
