This place is amazing. Perfect beach area. Lots of room for boating and fishing. Really nice shelters for throwing party's and maybe a wedding reception. I fell in love with this place fast. Not a lot of shade but so worth it. Water is really clean. Grounds really kept up. People are friendly. Great camping sights. And just a hop jump skip away from town if you forget anything. This is my favorite weekend getaway!!!
We stayed 6-18-20 through 6-21-2020. We really enjoyed the clean well kept campgrounds. We were lucky enough to catch several nice fish off of the fishing pier near campground A. The shower house was clean and the water pressure was acceptable.
Went to the beach a couple times and swam, the beach is just okay but the kids really enjoyed it. We rented kayaks and took a stroll around the lake, found some nice little coves. They have a well kept network of biking/walking/equestrian trails (check for ticks after!)
Overall we give it 5⭐s and will be going back in the future.
I've been out to this lake several times. A couple times to kayak and swim. A time or two to just drive around the lake because it's a beautiful place. Everytime I go out, it is even better than the last.
I like going out to take pictures too. Amazing areas for that. The pictures I am posting are from Sunday 9/26/21.
I also read on their website about an Astronomical place they have now with the strongest telescope in KS. (?)
It's open 24 hours so you can see the night sky. I definitely am going to go out and see this.
On Sunday it was kinda windy, however, the weather was perfect. I didn't swim, but just sat over at the beach watching birds, kids playing in the water and boaters enjoying the water.
This lake has a lot to offer. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you're in the right place. Even if you don't live here in KS, you could come out for a vacay. You won't be disappointed.
There's lots to do near by; great restaurants, historical places, and geeat people. Kansas is well known for having the friendliest people on earth. (at least I think so) 😉
Back to lakes, besides Banner, there are several lakes around in KS that are just as beautiful. Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Perry Lake in Perry, Tuttle Creek in Manhattan, just to name a few.
Whatever or whatever you vacation, be sure to check out what Kansas has to offer. It's definitely the spot for many reasons. You won't be disappointed. I grew up here. I will always consider it "home" no matter where I go.
Have a great time exploring your dreams. But be sure you ad Kansas to your 'bucket' list or to your 'wanna go' places.
We camped here in our RV, had a great experience with location and amenities. The staff and Kurt especially were extra helpful and gracious when we left something behind. The views are wonderful, maintenance is good and the grounds are kept well. It is a well loved piece of Holton history that's come full circle. Holton is a sweet town to explore and the people were amazing.
