Trashy place. People living and working out of the park. Made reservations on line and neighbors had a truck and camp trailer, pontoon boat, dump truck with trailer and road equipment. LOUD moving things around at all hours, views of Sunflower paving trucks. Policies aren’t enforced. Won’t come back, not for families wanting a weekend away.
Beautiful facility & great lake - however the gnats/midge flies are absolutely HORRIBLE!! In the evening you cannot even consider sitting outside. We have lit campfires to smoke them out, purchased citronella candles and torches, fogged the campsite - nothing helps! They get in the 5th wheel making sleeping almost impossible. We have dead carcasses all over the 5th wheel now - and it is only day 2! The campground & corp needs to get this under control.
We stayed at the Oak campground at 319. It was very beautiful and peaceful. There is a water spigot that you push down on in the center for drinking, cooking, cleaning, really anything you want. I ended up using it to clean the soot off my hands and oh my goodness does it have some PRESSURE!!!! This site does have a bathroom, just not flushable, it's between campsites 311 and 308. There are no trashcans or sinks in the restroom, but the toilet paper was stocked and it was pretty clean in there! Seems like everyone listens to the quiet hours and settles down by 10pm. During the day we had two park rangers drive by to check on us and gave us a friendly wave. The woman who helped us check in was wonderful and very welcoming. The swimming beach was great, not over crowded at all. We did plan on fishing but couldn't seem to find a good spot to fish without going through someone else's campsite, so decided not to fish this time. Overall it was a great stay, very friendly staff, and a great place to reconnect with nature.
Decent campground, close to boat ramp. Not too noisy even with college football games being played on outdoor tvs. Power and warer were good and sites were level horizonally, but not the long way(no big deal).
If you want a spot with trees and shade, reserve it early!
The only negatives were:
1. My spot was still marked with someone else's name, even though I had a reservation.
2. Millions of little bugs (not mosquitos) were swarming everywhere and were so thick you could breath them in. The did look like mosquitos, but did not bite or flee with citronella. They loved the light and flocked to it.
Had a wonderful memorial day weekend camping experience here! The raccoons tried to steal our griddle one night but we brought it in the second night as a result. We will be back!
