A favorite with waterfowl hunters, Oakwood Bottoms offers so much more from excellent bird watching to fishing opportunities and primitive camping at Turkey Bayou Campground. Picnic with your family or youth group at Oakwood Bottoms picnic site and take a short walk into the bottoms on the wooden boardwalk trail that loops back to the picnic area. The site also has a large picnic shelter next to a large pond, where you can enjoy watching ducks and other birds visit the pond in search of food.

Free camping no power or water services but camping by a body of water with you can fish and have a camp fire nice and quiet in a rural area of southwest Illinois
I give a 4 star because I feel like it needs to be mowed more than what it gets but other than that it's a nice little area!
Love this place our kids have grown up here. The gental man that takes care of this place is very nice. Yes it’s a little ways back from the highway but close enough to town to get anything you need. We have meet a lot of nice people over the 20 plus years we have camped here. Best thing about the Friends of the Bayou is now we get watch our granddaughter grow up here to.
First time been there, free camping with amazing spot by the lake. Managed by volunteer, Jason was very helpfull. Quiet place to stay
Peaceful, quiet & lovely. Thanks to Friends of the Bayou volunteers who selflessly invest in keeping this place open.
