The Seven Devils Campground is a small rustic facility located near the Hells Canyon Wilderness. The site is set in a cool fir and spruce forest and has 10 tent-only campsite sites. A short walk from the campground is Seven Devils Lake which offers fishing, photography and a chance to view scenery and wildflowers.
17 miles up Papoose Creek Road #517 from the mouth of Squaw Creek on US 95, 1 mile south of Riggins.
The drive up was nice and there is ample space for camping. However, there was a lack of information about how to get to hike to any of the 7 peaks. Probably will do better research and go for a hike next time.
The scenery around this place gets 5 stars, campground 3 stars. Pretty small campground and most of the sites are really close together to where you can hear everyone's conversations in the campgrounds around you even if they aren't talking loudly. Hard to camp here if you have more than 1 dog because of how close the sites are together. Whole campground was full when I went at the end of June. The lake is small but great views.
Have camped here before. My most favorite spot ever. I caught a double rainbow while hiking up to fire tower. Was so out of breath. Not sure if you can make out the 2 rainbows. I always figured there are lots of steer running around up there why would the grizzly or lions want me. Also at night I got video of objects moving in the sky. No man made. I'm from WI. and plan on coming back this summer 2020. Cheers !
This is a small (10 sites) first come first serve, clean campground with fire pits and restrooms - no water. Devils lake is close by if you have a way to purify the water.
Lots of hiking options just prior to the campground with parking and restroom.
The lake in the photo is Mirror Lake, over the ridge is Sheep Lake. This is a difficult trail, steep grades, loose gravel, tight switchbacks and the trail isn't marked all that well. I used GAIA GPS to track my way and I did have to use it on the way out. Cell coverage was available once elevation was gained.
