About Campground

This campground is the first of several campsites along the canyon formed by the Yankee Fork of the Salmon River. Fishing for rainbow trout in the river, and interpretive and historical tours available nearby. Each site has picnic tables, fire rings with cooking grills. There is a Vault toilet. The sites accomodate trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet.

DirectionsFrom Stanley:Drive 11 miles east on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook. Turn left onto forest road #013 and continue for about one mile. Campground is on the right.From Challis:Drive 42 miles west on Highway 75 to the Sunbeam Dam overlook. Turn right onto forest road #013 and continue for about one mile. Campground is on the right.

For only 5 dollars a night (2.50 for seniors) it's really a nice spot.

Vacant and free. Only 5 or 6 sites, 2 of which are right on the river. Well spaced. All I can ask for...
