The Hugh Otte dispersed camping area can accommodate a maximum of eight camping spots. There's a horse corral located at the end of Bruce's parking lot. No cell phone service. These sites are not paved.
From Lander, travel about 7 miles on State Highway 131 to the Shoshone National Forest boundary. The camping area will be on the left just past the cattle guard.
Camping area is clean, road definitely not maintained, lots of big rocks and huge dips in the roads. Not to many areas to tent camp. Bathrooms are super clean.
Dispersed camping at it's best on the river. Vaulted toilet and bear boxes on site. Horse trailer parking across the street. You can bring a camper in or tent. They say right campers at most but I see more sites than that. The road is pretty rough in the camping area as soon as you turn off the owned road so be ready for that.
