I take my family here a couple times every year for the past 9 years. It is well maintained for a campground that is free. You have to hike down the trail to get to some of the more secluded sites. The playground is great for when the kids get bored. If you like it please donate to them on your way out.
This is our first time here as a family and we've enjoyed it. We arrived on the Friday of a holiday weekend and had no problem getting a level site with a fire ring. The only drawbacks were the weather- which is obviously out of anyone's control- and it was HOT. The park was equipment had no shade so we had to be strategic when visiting. And no firewood on-site or a location nearby to purchase. Not at all a deal breaker; we just try to not bring wood from home as we don't want to spread any disease. We will more than likely return as my husband's family is from the area and he camped here as a kid.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. I stayed 2 nights in an rv. Kids park is nice and the creek that leads to the river is awesome. Took/hiked a horse trail about 2 miles and had a blast. Cooled off at the end in the river.
Large, rural park with camping possibilities. Playground, picnic area , fire pits & grills. On the high bluff of the creek. Very steep canyons. Also very quiet. Beautiful spot on earth.
My favorite county park. It’s got a developed campground/playground area, and the rest of the park is undeveloped woodland, with only narrow horse trails to walk on, all up and down the bluffs surrounding a creek that looks and feels like it belongs in the foothills of a mountain range. The trails are fairly hidden, and can be hard to find, but once you find them you can hike for hours.
