We enjoyed being here and the park/resort is located on Smith Lake so it was easy to get our kayaks in the water and cooling off in the lake in the afternoon was great. I know one reviewer wasn't happy with the condition of the road leading to Hidden Cove. The section that is not in great condition is very short, maybe 1/10th of a mile? Probably half that length. This wasn't a big deal to us, and someone (probably Hidden Cove) hired private contractors to repair the holes while we were there. We'd return in a heartbeat.
Stayed at this beautiful lakeside campground, and it was a breeze to navigate with spacious pull-through sites that were level and easy to settle into. Perfect views of the lake when you’re on a walk, and the clubhouse overlooking the lake adds to the charm. The front desk staff was super friendly, allowing hassle-free package deliveries, a real plus for our Christmas stay (just, you know, don’t abuse the privilege). The only hiccup was the occasional off-leash dogs that seemed to wander in from the woods. La Bonita Plaza Mexican restaurant in Arley had decent food but lackluster service. The busy coffee shop diner and a local gas/grocery store with good prices were also convenient in Arley. Keep in mind, anything else is a bit of a drive, around 30+ minutes to Jasper. Despite that, we'd definitely return and recommend this gem of a park to others.
