My family rented a tiny house over Labor Day weekend, it was such a fun weekends for us all: so much to do; swimming, listened to two greet bands, watched the awesome fireworks, our twin boys got to enjoy the pickle ball court and basketball court. They also offer kayaks and fishing boats for fishing. The park was SO clean and the security was great, definitely a secure park. James Sparks was so helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for our tiny house. The ladies at the office/restaurant were so sweet. We loved it so much, we rented a camping spot for next year.
Great Experience! We have been looking for something close to home for the last couple of years and found it at Hickory Hills! Tons of activities for kids. We went for Labor Day and they had live music and fireworks. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool. Staff was nice, campground was quiet. It was hot but we were one of the few sites who had a fire going at night - definitely a fair amount of wood for the fee (more than most campgrounds). Cafe/Community Hall is excellent. Only negatives we had was the water went out for a couple of hours due to a transformer (but ownership let us know promptly and it was back up within about an hour) and the water has a real strong iron smell - but both of these are definitely manageable with so many other positives. Any negative reviews about the staff on previous posts were clearly a result of their own doing and likely individuals I wouldn't want to surround my family with while camping anyways. We have already booked a return trip for the weekend before Halloween and are looking forward to it!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Retreat at Hickory Hills Campground. The new campground area has improved even since we were there in June - it is evident that the owner is taking the time to improve it. It is beautifully landscaped and the large sites are so nice. We were greeted by Rick who was very personable and got us settled into our spot which already had our golf cart ready and waiting. There was entertainment for all. The band on Saturday night was great which was followed by some pretty awesome fireworks! Sunday nights band was really as well and everyone has such a great time. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone - yes, it is a little pricey but the comfort and convince of this lovely campground is worth it!
This was our first time staying at The Retreat at Hickory Hills, We chose it based off of a recommendation from a friend. I am really glad that we decided to camp there! We normally are State Park campers, this was a very nice change of pace! This place is clean and well managed, every employee that we had an interaction with was very friendly, and helpful. We are already planning a trip for next year.
Thank you to all of the staff!!
We cannot say enough good things about The Retreat at Hickory Hills. This is one of the best campgrounds in Indiana. Beautiful, well maintained property. Plenty of room to enjoy the peace and quiet of the great outdoors.
The staff is amazing, ALL so nice and helpful. Casey, Rick, James, Greg, and Barbie are just awesome.
The Rusty Spur Cafe, Firewood, and Ice Cream are all a great value and far better than average campgrounds.
Our family truly enjoys renting a golf cart and hitting the trails during our weekend camping adventures.
Thank you for providing a Retreat for us to enjoy! See you all soon!
