Spectacular view of mount Washington. Wide well groomed trails
This is a great remote outdoor adventure destination at all times of the year. It is a moderate grade 2.5 mile walk up the trail from the Pinkham Notch Lodge.
Went up last weekend watch friends Spring skiing over the headwall of Tuckerman's Ravine. A good spot to experience deep winter camping with the safety of a 3 sided shelter, no need to carry a heavy tent. A good summer starting point to explore all around Mount Washington, without having to go home at the end of the day. Or just spend the day catching the rays at HoJo's (the deck on the ranger station) and people watching. The views are incredible.
What a fantastic hike. Hiked up to the shelters and stashed our packs. Continued to the summit. Hiked back down and spent the night at the shelters. Hiked out the next morning.
Lean to shelters on a very difficult hike. Don't let the elevation fool you. It's the elevation gain with constant rain that'll kill you.
