It was a pretty good place. The people were so polite and accommodating. The hot tub was fantastic as well as all the mini games they had there. The cabin itself was, well interesting. We could hear critters in the ceiling, and it felt a little small for the amount of people that it was said to hold. It also felt like a hotel room instead of a cabin and the wifi kept going out. It wouldn't have been so bad if there was service to fall back on, but there wasn't any service. I did love the seclusion though. It felt good to get away from the city life. All in all I would go again.
I think the description should be a little different for these " cabins ".
It was over a clean area. I did find a long hair on the toilet before using it. The beds definitely need to be upgraded. Theire definitely hard and springy. Back s hurting after being there for two nights. Something that's not on the websites description is that only 18 and older are able to use the hot tube. So we drove a 45 mins away to be able to take our 5 year old swimming. My husband went to ask the staff about this and the guys didnt even bother coming out of his screen to speak to my husband. Not very personal.
The description doesn't mention that the 4 complex of rooms we stayed in were connected it seemed between doors or thin walls. We could hear the people all around us till 12 at night. Knocking and banging around and tvs. The decking definitely needs to be uodated. Some of it seemed to be sinking in or fallimg aport.
But on the plus side they did have a few yard games and they were fun to have around.
Over all it wasn't what was described for the price.
Hidden Pet fees. Charged my credit card without my authorization. Stayed here with my family over Memorial Day. Spoke with owners twice prior to arriving. At no time then nor at the time of booking was I informed about pet fees. Their website stated in 3 different places that pets were welcome. It did NOT say they would be charging $15/pet per night. Only AFTER we had stayed the first night, did I receive a TEXT message informing me of this additional fee, and then they went ahead and charged my credit card without even waiting for a response and then just charged me a random amount. They said they would at least refund the appropriate amount for the number of pets but never did. I am fighting this through my bank and filing a formal complaint with the BBB. It's a shame they don't have better ethics or integrity because it was a charming place otherwise. This whole thing could have been avoided by fully disclosing any and all fees up front.
We loved this place. We stayed there for 5 nights. My sister came out with her family and met us there so we had 2 cabins(#12, &14) for the whole stay. This place was amazing. When I booked it, the lady that took my reservation was very honest and told me the cabins are older, but the property was amazing. That is exactly right. The cabins are older, but still fine and comfortable. The property is my favorite part, it is really great to unwind at after running all over the black hills area. The creek is fun and clear, the fire pits along its edge are so fun to sit at and make smores at in the evening, the swing set and yard games were a great family friendly things too. They have a hot tub and it was clean and never crowded. The whole place was never crowded like the bigger resorts in the area. I have stayed at several different places in the area over the years, and this was my favorite. I will stay here when I return. The location is also perfect. It's so central to rushmore, keystone, sylvan lake, crazy horse, hill city, custer state park, and obviously the needles hightway(its right on it). Any needs we had, they immediately took care of and pretty much left us alone to just relax. I was very happy with the whole experience. If your lucky enough to a reservation here, you won't be disappointed as long as your ok with older smallish cabins.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. We stayed in cabin #9 and it was great, fire pit, bbq pit, picnic table all to ourselves. Location was a 10. 20 mins. from Mt. Rushmore, 20 mins. from Crazy Horse, on the Needles Hwy. that leads straight into Custer State Park. The owners were on site and very nice. We will definitely return next time we come thru. Thanks for the wonderful time.
