About Campground

Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters is a classic Northwoods lakeside resort nestled into the Boreal forest on the south shore of Gunflint Lake, between the Canadian border and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Drive the legendary Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, on the North Shore of Lake Superior, laced with ancient White Pines, and keep your eyes open for moose, wolves, Canadian lynx and black bear. Once you’re here, relax in front of your fireplace, soak up the sun, and experience the Milky Way in the world’s largest Dark Skies Sanctuary. Feed your body with hand-crafted Northwoods cuisine and your sense of adventure with the many activities offered—from zip lining and horseback riding to guided fishing and Naturalist activities. Or outfit your whole group for a trip into the Boundary Waters. Whatever you choose, it will be an experience you’ll never forget.

We have been coming to this establishment for over 15 years! My family has turned a yearly thanksgiving trip here into tradition and have enjoyed each and every visit! If you are looking for a cappuccino maker, or 500 thread count sheets; stay in the twin city’s!! On the other hand if you are looking for something a little more authentic and outdoorsy this is the perfect place! We enjoy great staff service, food, trails, and the relaxing hot tub! All aspects of this resort provide a great stay for a family or simply connect you more to nature! 100% Recommend!

Thank you

Had a great long weekend trip to the Gunflint Lodge and have already been recommending to all family and friends.

The guided naturalist events were a ton of fun, they were super informative and allowed plenty of time for questions. We did a hike where the naturalist basically asked what we wanted to see and helped guide us to what we were looking for while giving good information the whole way.

The cabin was perfect. It was clean, spacious and so relaxing.

The food was amazing!

The staff were also amazing and super helpful and friendly.

So my wife and I are currently here for our second wedding anniversary. It's after the holiday rush and we chose to come here for the seclusion and peaceful setting. The staff upon check in were professional and despite a few oversights were more than willing to make it all right. The food here was good the new york strip is pretty good for the price and the breakfast is amazing! The hot tub in our cabin along with the roses, chocolates, and wine were a fabulous touch that was much appreciated.

If you are thinking about staying here and have never been here before, do yourself a favor and book it! The cabin was very clean, cozy, and had a rustic charm. The view over the lake was stunning from our indoor hot tub with the fireplace on. The resort lodge itself and restaurant, were 5 stars. The food was a treat you can only get up north. I live in the cities, and let me tell you I have never had such good food in my life. Besides that, the service here is something like you’d never experience in the cities. Everyone was so kind, respectful, and professional. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had an above and beyond experience. The snow was melting and we had planned a sleigh ride, the staff actually took snow from the lake, drove it a half mile down the road to patch up spots on the sleigh ride trail so we could still experience it. This was just one example of how the staff went above and beyond for our stay. I could literally go on and on with examples.

The staff at Gunflint really are special as well as the charm of the resort. Thank you for making our stay so special. We are sure to come back again soon and hopefully try the zip lining! Until next time!!

This was our sixth time here.

Brought some friends that had never been before.

The cabins had some much needed improvements made. Things were getting a little run down.

It was good to see reinvesting in the property.

The staff in the bar and restaurant are fantastic

Amber ran the restaurant and bar on her own on multiple occasions due to staff shortage.

Lauren did the same on her own!

Both ladies were beyond accommodating to our entire group and we can honestly say they are a major part of our wonderful weekend!

Good staff that genuinely love what they do are hard to come by these days so we appreciated the high level of customer service we received even when things were busy

Food was great, drinks great

The hours at the lodge are abbreviated again due to staff shortages (so bring some beverages for the cabin)

The skeleton staff they have are hustling!,

It was such a hit with our friends now they are planning another trip!

Thank you to the entire hard working team at Gunflint, but a special shout out to Amber & Lauren!

You gals rock! Thank you!
