Simply the best. Cabins are nicely separated and not on top of each other. Private docks to relax and take in the sunset. Wildlife is abundant. Owners are always friendly and helpful. We visited during the fires this summer and they were completely on top of things as far as notifying guests of any danger/potential evacuations. This has to be one of the best lodges in the north woods.

When I'm traveling to the Gunflint Trail for a dog sled race, I always stay at Golden Eagle. They are very accommodating for us traveling with a truck full of sled dogs. Cabins are perfect. I love the remote location.

My 2nd winter stay at Golden Eagle Lodge was as wonderful as my first! I highly recommend this great, family-run lodge for its well-maintained ski trail network, sauna, snowshoe trails, and beautiful northland atmosphere. Staff seem to take great pride in their work and are so helpful & accommodating. The beautiful cabins are stocked with supplies for cooking after a day full of winter fun. The charming lantern-lit ski trail is perfect for stargazing & skiing after dark. I highly recommend this lodge for your next northwoods getaway!

Drove 410 miles to get here. Well worth the drive for me. Came to fish. Caught 3 smallies on the first trip out. Only downfall for me, is there's no boat launch here. You have to go down the road and launch at the flours lake campground. It's a nice cement pad launch. They'd offer a docking space here for a small fee.

People here are quiet. I'm a light sleeper. Only woke up to Elk bugging off in the distance. I'd come back here if I'm in the area.

Planned a ski trip over Christmas but had an amazing time at Golden Eagle despite the lack of snow, too wet to ice skate and clouds preventing Aurora or stargazing opportunities. Instead we hiked the property ski trails and nearby trails (Caribou Rock to Rose Falls).

The staff was lovely and helpful. The cabins were sparkling clean and well maintained and stocked with everything we needed. Homemade cookies awaited! Mattresses were firm and very comfortable. We loved watching the wildlife partake of the sunflower seeds provided to each cabin.

Thank you Golden Eagle for a memorable Christmas 🎄 on the Gunflint Trail.
