Smokey, mossy, lush, and an ethereal dreamscape. 2 mike uphill hike in (1hour with backpacks). Moderately difficult but doable for beginners. 10/10 best campsite/experience we’ve ever had. You walk down the trail and it becomes an almost tropical rainforest. The campsites are far far apart and look unreal. Bring tarps to set up in the trees to sit under because it rains in and out all day. Prioritize keeping dry. Beautiful blue and yellow butterflies fly around you all day long around the river. Salamanders can be found all over the river if you lift up rocks in the slower moving water. Not a single complaint.

Just getting in to Backcountry camping? This would be a good first step. Easy in and out, one of the most beautiful Backcountry sites in GSMNP. ENJOY!

This camp is beautiful, the trail on the West Prong is moderate and hilly in areas but worth the hike.
