This beautiful 19-acre spring-fed lake resting near Grassy Mountain is the highest lake in Georgia. Families will enjoy camping in this quiet, rustic setting which offers cool summertime temperatures. Whether hiking to the Songbird Management area or to Grassy Mountain tower, fishing, or swimming, you will revel in this area rich in plants, birds and wildlife. Beautiful lake in the middle of Cohuta Wildlife Management area. Camping, fishing, swimming, hiking and picnicking are available.
Very beautiful and well kept rustic small state park. The road in is not paved and can be a bit rough, we were glad we were driving a SUV. The campground has picnic tables and restrooms but no showers. You can use small boats and canoes on the lake and fish. For swimming there is a pier and there are hiking trails. We were there in June and up at the park it was much cooler. We needed jackets and blankets at night, a welcome change from the heat :) No reservations can be made for camping spots and those on the lake go fast but the campground didn't get very full until Saturday. We loved it!
Off the beaten path but well worth the drive. It’s beautiful, the lake was like a mirror as you can see in my pics. you can turn the pic upside down and can’t tell it. The campground is nice but no full hookups, I primitive camp in a tent when I go. Great place in the heat of summer, when it 90* in town it’s 75* at Conasauga Lake.
We went to Lake Conasauga today 7/22/2023. The lake was very beautiful. We fished from the shore, although next time I think we will bring our little fishing boat with us.I knew going in it was 15 miles of forest service road, but what I didn't know was that the restrooms would be shut down.
Now, I don't mind going in the woods, however my better-half Brandy had her reservations concerning the matter. Considering it was a 15 mile trip on bumpy roads, well let's just say nature won the day.Other than that, the trip was a success and we found another way back to civilization.Only four stars, given the bathroom situation.
