We found this passing through had to stop. The area is Beautiful. The monument sneeks up on you. And has a lot of interesting reads
Had cell signal half the time. Harper's Ferry town was pretty crowded and AT&T is basically the only serviceable cell provider there but the Appalachian Trail was great and not that difficult at all just fairly long. Not too scenic though until you hike next to the Potomac. The bike path is great for this.
Had a great time on my hike to the shelters. Perfect distance just over 3 miles. Perfect for an afternoon hike out to camp over night!
So small of the area. But so cool. Appalachian.Trial-AT is right pass. And the landmark of the gate way is well worth the trip. Areas of picnic.and easy for parking.
