I walked the outer loop Trail Ferncilff beautiful serene untouched forest ferns rocks sound of rushing water of the YOUGHIOGHENY for a moment felt transported to Colorado or Ricky mountains everything here seems bigger than life like you shrink and enter dinosaur land fossils on rocks from over 300 million years ago such a cool hiking area

The Ferncliff Peninsula in Ohiopyle State Park is accessible by a pedestrian footbridge on the edge of downtown. Great views looking out on the Youghiogheny River from the bridge. The red trail is a shady 2 mile loop with overlooks to the gorge. The trail was pretty muddy when we visited. Dogs are allowed on leash. On your way back, stop at Falls Market General Store by the bridge, and treat yourself to homemade ice cream. The Cherry Cheesecake flavor was the best.

To get to this great view, you only need to walk through rocky trail about 5 mins. There’s no bike path for the fall.
