About Campground

Camping is allowed only in the more than 60 authorized campsites. The checkpoint receptionists will gladly assist you in choosing a location when you register. Fees will vary according to the number in your party and the length of your stay. A fire place, picnic table, and privy are located at each campsite. The sites are primitive and well spread out. You will find solitude, good fishing, good hunting, fresh air, clean water, good times, and many other outdoor activities if this is what appeals to you. There is no running water or electricity. Campsites are maintained weekly. We ask that you carry out the refuse you carry in. Occasionally a campsite may be discontinued. Such closure allows the natural environment to recover from the impacts of frequent and concentrated activity.

No party will be allowed to camp more than two weeks in one location. No trailer, tent, or other equipment is to be stored on any campsite. Items left unattended for more than three consecutive days may be removed at the expense of the owner. If primitive camping is not appealing to you, you may stay at one of the sporting camps in the KI Jo-Mary Multiple Use Forest. Campsite reservations are not required, but recommended for Friday and Saturday nights. Requests should be made at least one month in advance.

Great campground, the views of the mountains are wonderful. The lake is large without being too big and scary, and the water is refreshing and very clear. The facilities are well kept. Be ready to slog your supplies in, because it's quite a journey to get to a store.

The only drawbacks are the proximity of sites to one another (they're pretty tight though each one is a good size) and the 5 miles of pure washboard dirt road to get to the site. Neither of these will prevent me from going camping here again, though.

Favorite part: listening to the loons all night and watching a meteor shower from the waterfront.

Also-theres a beach and you can play here for a $10 day use fee.

My family and I have stayed here several times this year. This area of Maine is beautiful any time of the year. The campground is clean and gorgeous with quite a few different style sites to accommodate tents, RV's large and small. Lot's of water front sites to choose from. It's such a magical spot in the middle of the Maine wilderness. Jason is great. Very friendly and accommodating.

In the heart of a beautiful forested region lay a popular campground. It was frequented by families, couples, and lone wanderers looking for a peaceful retreat in nature. The campsite had all the essentials: pristine spots for pitching tents, a clear freshwater lake, and trails that promised adventure. But behind this idyllic facade lay a deeply unsettling secret.

The owner of the campground was a peculiar individual. To many, he seemed simply like someone who kept to himself, but to those who dared to stay longer, a more sinister side emerged. He had an obsession with rules and order. A misplaced tent peg or a campfire that was slightly bigger than the designated size would result in a stern warning or even eviction from the site.

He seemed to derive a perverse pleasure from exerting control over his guests. He’d frequently change campsite rules with no notice and seemingly on a whim. Those who dared to question him were met with a cold, emotionless stare and a chilling warning not to challenge his authority.

Campers soon noticed other oddities. Quiet conversations held in the seclusion of their tents would be mysteriously referenced by the owner the next day. Items would inexplicably go missing from campsites, only to turn up in strange locations.

Rumors began circulating that the owner had placed hidden microphones around the campsite to eavesdrop on guests. Some even believed he sabotaged camping equipment just to watch the resulting chaos from a distance.

The campsite's reputation began to suffer. People began to leave cautionary reviews online, warning others about the owner's erratic behavior. Eventually, a group of regular campers decided to confront him, demanding transparency and respect for privacy.

The confrontation escalated quickly, revealing the depth of the owner's instability. But the campers were resolute, standing their ground and demanding a change. The incident became the talk of the community, and the owner's reputation was tarnished irreparably.

Despite its once-beloved status, the campground started seeing fewer and fewer visitors. The owner's unchecked behavior had ruined what was once a sanctuary for many. His sociopathic tendencies became the stuff of local legend, a chilling reminder that sometimes the most beautiful places can hide the darkest secrets.
