Pine Point Campground is situated next to Vallecito Reservoir in southwestern Colorado. Visitors enjoy the area for its beautiful scenery and wide range of recreational activities, including boating, fishing and hiking.
Vallecito Reservoir is a very popular fishing lake, with anglers casting for German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike. Boating, water skiing and canoeing are popular activities. A sheltered area for boats and an open play area are just south of the campground.
A variety of hiking and horseback riding trails are found in the area. The North Canyon Trail climbs through ponderosa pine and aspen forests. A short side trail leads to a scenic overlook of the lake. East Creek Trail provides access to a lightly used, scenic drainage where fly-fisherman can be seen casting for brook trout.
The campground offers single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.
The Vallecito lake, which is Spanish for "little valley," sits at an elevation of 7,900 feet. A scenic forest of ponderosa pine covers the campground, which offers many shaded, lakefront sites with easy access to the shore. High peaks of the San Juan Mountains are visible to the northwest of the campground.

From Bayfield, Colorado, turn north on County Road 501 for about 13 miles, to the Vallecito area. Turn right on County Road 501A and travel almost 4 miles to the campground, which is located on the left side of the road.
Beautiful and well-maintained camp site. Great access to the water. Could use modern bear boxes, but that's really a minor nit.
Such a great campground! It is very close to the reservoir, secluded but close to the road and the hosts were fantastic! They helped us with some last minute changes to our reservations and came by to check on the guests frequently bringing treats for our pup!
Super chill spot with plenty of shade and beautiful views. There’s a vault toilet that doesn’t smell bad and is fairly clean. If you plan on fishing make sure to get your fishing license handy. The park ranger was quick to spot us and ask for it.
We had no problem with cell service. Overall great experience! I will definitely be back.
Five stars when water in lake, 1 star when empty. Been going here for years . Always beautiful, last visit they failed to tell us and other campers that the lake was 90% empty . Was not happy to find this out after driving 8 hours , bought a kayak for no reason.
The camp host, Terry and his wife Candy are an amazing couple. 👏 Facilities and campsites are clean and well taken care of. Kid and pet friendly our boys had an amazing time here.
