This recreation area is part of Trinidad Lake. The Carpios Ridge Campground, including a new camper services building, is fully operational with sites 1-23 open from October 15 to May 1. The camper services building has restrooms, pay showers and laundry.
All 63 sites now have 30- and 50-amp electrical service and four sites--1, 3, 6, and 63--offer full hookups.
From either direction on I-25, take Exit 13-B to West Main Street. At the first four-way stop, turn left onto Nevada Ave. Go through the roundabout and continue west onto Highway 12 for 3.5 miles.
Outstanding campground, beautiful sites, amazingly well kept showers and bathrooms, quiet, great trails around as well.
Really enjoyed the trails and amenities were great .... very clean .ie showers laundry.. Definitely would stay again. FYI online reservations are not user friendly. Be patient making reservations online .. can be frustrating. Great place for kids.
This was a good camping area. Water spigots are close. Each campsite has a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and awning for shade. The only drawbacks are No privacy and if you get a campsite on the north end it is far from the two porta-potties.
Beautiful views. The angle of the site with a drop off/ditch made it interesting to back into. No sewer or water at the site we were in but the bath house was nearby and there are multiple water spigots throughout park to fill up fresh water tank if needed. The camp worker was very nice and the park rangers drove through several times a day.
